What large fee? I got my husband naturalized through marriage last year. If memory serves the fee was €950. Probably cost the government more to process the application. €950 gets you 2 nights in a good hotel in ROI these days.
.
I’ll explain.
.
This is the kind of racist tripe about immigrants or any sort of people against whom hate speech is being stirred up in order to cloak out and out racism or discrimination.
Not sure where you lifted your text from, but it’s worthy of Hitler’s Propaganda Ministry’s attempts to incite hatred against Jews pre-World War II.
I absolutely agree with John Scully about please do not bring these sentiments, and with the other posters who’ve said exactly the same as John albeit more softly.
Not unhappy to see you make use of any good fortune you may have for a helpful passport - them’s the breaks so fair enough. But whether you are conscious of it or not unfortunately you appear to have taken on board some hate speech towards various groups that is simply that.
If you lose that then welcome and good luck with the passport.
DMd you.
Ireland extends citizenship to members of the Irish Diaspora for the political benefits that might accrue to the Irish state. After all, if it weren’t for Irish-Americans, including Presidents Clinton and Biden among others, there would never have been a Good Friday Agreement.
Nations have their own self-interests beyond the sentimental. So do we citizens.
Are you Irish?
No shit Sherlock
Don’t try and teach you grandmother to suck eggs ![]()
What large fee would that be?
I see you problem, you believe bullshit. Did you research who produced this video? Who the “media” was? For your info it was a bunch of rightwing assholes… “Gript” refers to Gript Media, a news outlet in Ireland. The outlet is known for its focus on news and debate “without the liberal filter” and has been described as conservative, far-right, and right-wing."
These people are nobodies, in fact, they haven’t even reached that status yet. But you managed to find them,
Do you do the same about the UK, that would make sense.
Did you really think the badly dressed idiot with the green hat wasn’t a plant. Or the rural bullshitter in the second half?
You ignorance of Ireland’s history, culture, politics and inability to research reliable sources to rectify same only reenforces my view that you shouldn’t be entrusted with an Irish passport.
Meanwhile, it’s a lovely evening in Dublin, where I am sitting with this view having a quiet beer before returning home to France tomorrow
Cheers.
So who, in your opinion, are the journos that are “somebodies”? Sky, BBC, at al? Never a mention by them.
Do you think the march was a mock up? Crisis actors?
Oh and of course the far right would be responsible for reporting it. What of the the people marching? All “far right bigots” too? Because you can’t be patriotic about the country you were born, can you?
These marches are happening all over the place.
Face it John, you know very little about the depth of feeling running through Ireland right now. You are in your own happy go lucky bubble, judgemental and ignorant of reality.
Incidentally hubby’s Irish passport is on its way, he’s a citizen by decent, thanks to his lovely mother.
Happy days ![]()
Freudian slip? ![]()
I would certainly have applied for an Irish passport if I hadnt already got French citizenship and the option had been available to me.I dont think many people wouldnt have done so.So glad for you

predictive text, but he is pretty decent ![]()
Thanks Carol, I don’t know why some people are triggered by it ![]()
You know how absurd this is, don’t you? I showed my (Irish wife) your posts and she had a good laugh.
In this situation my late and much lamented (Irish) mother would have said “you’re worse, interacting with an ejit”. But here goes nevertheless.
I’ve lived in Ireland on and off (more on than off) for over sixty years. I went to school there. I have family and old school friends there that we meet regularly and holiday with every year. I have properties there. This year I spent all of January and half of February there, a further three days at the end of Fubruary. Then two weeks in May because my IRISH daughter was home from Oz, and spending time with her old school friends there. Now, I’ve been here since Friday for a wedding. Back in August for a medical procedure under my IRISH health insurance.
And I’m discussing Ireland with and ill informed randomer carpet bagger who knows SFA about Ireland and cares less. My mother’s assessment would have been right ![]()
BTW, It’s not the BBC or SKY in Ireland, it’s RTE. More ignorance.
Why? I presume you live in France so you have a connection with France. Have you any connection with Ireland or is it just that the process would/could have been shorter/simpler.
Just for info…

Freudian slip?

As opposed to a decent citizen?
Oh he’s one of those too ![]()
Good grief! Is this thread still going? Whatever the merits of the OP, the subsequent discussion is hardly in the spirit of SF
