Looking back at chats, so many are irrelevant and not targeted at what people need to know. I am new to tjis site but instantly realize how it is not focussed, so it begs the question of is there drection or just “coffee chat” on tnis site?
Lifes a challenge so having a space to not take life so seriously is fine by me.
There are dozens of categories that threads are sorted into. Some are directly related to life in France, some are under the ‘general discussion’ category for example. It ebbs and flows depending on the time of year and what’s happening in the world to whether most threads are related to French life, or other things.
I see chit chat on many fiscussion groups and no decisive final conclusions. People talk around a subject but never “bottom” it! Ros
The site is also a communal meeting place. Some people will get ranty, some will be friendly, some helpful, some political. People want to talk to each other and sometimes share a bit of life. There aren’t always conclusions to be reached, especially in ongoing situations, or when someone with a problem answered doesn’t feed back to the group.
If you look underneath each post you will see it sits in a topic area, and that’s how posts are grouped. Want to see posts on French language - click on that topic. Etc.
I asked a question recently and got some very helpful advice. The thread might have wandered off topic a bit after that but it was fine and I could always have asked more questions if I needed further answers.
On tech/building it kind of does as suggestions come in but the threads dont end there and meander on with drits, just how we are. On other matter opinion runs on and on just as it does in life… Sat in on too many work meetings where topics stray so guess its just water off a ducks back now, whilst to others that is the norm and no conclusion is ever reached
I guess it all depends on what the question is. If it’s something like "what’s the answer to life, the universe and everything? It’s a simple answer. Anything else can take a bit more discussion with different opinions so may never get a definitive conclusion.
Can’t wait to see the erudite conclusion you finally come to at the bottom of this chat, and I wonder if (m)any will agree with you. ![]()
Why do we have to be focussed or reach conclusions?
That is sad! Not my misconpetception of life at all which is always looking forward and optimistic👍
Maybe its because you are high on life having beaten the fisk on home turf but we are generally more chilled on here, happy to deal with less challenging situations. You may get bored quickly on here who knows but I hope now you have won that you can find inner peace
Pretty sure @Susannah was making a joke Ros, a bit like your
I assume. ![]()
Rather a sweeping comment, don’t you think, on reflection?
Irrelevant and not targeted is preferable to incomprehensible.
So I am sorry that you are so bllinkered in your approach to open discussion. This is maybe why there are so many distortions of the Law and undisputed reclaims in a foreign land.
I am bi-lingual and can understand legalese or law terms as any English bi-lingual could.
I am here now while I can to male people aware. Yes I have written a book because I care. I travelled to Paris last week to meet my two – Parisian lawyers to say “Thank you” it was not a publicity trip! It was gratitude for how they also saw and upheld the Law.
I now will see my lawyers in Cannes on 30 July and 18 August to thank them both for their excellent work.
Two increfible and dexicated lawyers!
It appears you know little or nothing of such affairs and choose to merely criticise. I suggest you read my book and I will send you a free copy so that you can up-date your concepts of living in France and stop pontificating.
What was it again that you were saying about chats being irrelevant and not targeted? This conversation has morphed into a loosely constructed diatribe/plug for your book/description of the minutiae of your appointments diary, I don’t see the relevance and wonder what the target is.
It isn’t very tactful to join a group which discusses all sorts of things and immediately demonstrate
I am seeing American and and an older “Middle European” (possibly just possibly, very East German but I think just a little more East) cultural expectation here. Am I right?

What is the best home recipe for indigestion?
Baking soda (sodium bicarbonate)
Baking soda can quickly neutralize stomach acid and relieve indigestion, bloating, and gas after eating. Add 1/2 tsp of baking soda to 4 ounces of warm water and drink. Baking soda is generally safe and nontoxic.
I hope those suffering can soon find some relief
