That might be a bit hopeful in August. The wind has calmed down so that could help.
Does anyone local know where the fire is in relation to Auberge du Vieux Poits (Giles Goujon restaurant)??
It’s currently threatening Lagrasse which is about half an hour from Fontjoncouse. Are you popping in to see Gilles for a meal?

They are currently on the fire front. The area I would think would be cordoned off.
Google maps gives a very good picture of exactly what is going on and where.
Actually, they’re right inside the fire area.
Oh no! How sad. Yes, the local car club have taken the dining room for lunch on 19 Sept. I have been waiting all year for it - even took a room upstairs for the night so I could enjoy all the tasting wines 
Apparently the fire was an accident? A car caught fire? Terrible by the sounds of it. Seven pompiers injured it said on the news this morning?

Let’s be sorry for everyone who has to evacuate their homes and livliehoods. I now hear that one person has died.
Everything is so dry now after the high heat.
And it’s headed for 40C at the weekend there.

Apparently the woman who died refused to evacuate her house. OK, I am all for standing firm, but why do people do this - disregard the authority who is trying to have everyone’s back?
Second recent major fire caused by that - previous car didn’t have a CT - will be interested to see if this was similar.

TF1 tonight reported that they have phone footage of the original site of the fire taken by a youngster just after it caught the trees and got going and now that area has cooled down, soil and other samples are being analyzed to see if any chemicals can be found as accelerants etc. The one along the A9 three months ago was caused by a trailer carrying a brazier that still had sparks alight which in turn ignited the side of the motorway and further inland, it looked dreadful when we passed it last weekend.
