I know who I think did it🤠What did Russia have to gain?
Perhaps it was someone who A: Repairs undersea pipelines, or B: operates a large fleet of LNG tankers. Possibly an opportunity to drum up a bit of business under cover of warfare.
Who knows Robert, but as Hercule P says, “If you have eliminated the impossible, the remaining possibility, however improbable, must be the truth.”
I always thought it was Ukraine. The only question now is was Zelenskyy in the know. Looks to me as if a “plausible” denial is being crafted. I’m not criticising, if I was in his shoes and my Country had been attacked by Russia, I would have considered all options too. It certainly woke up the Germans.
Well it always was a folly to rely so heavily on gas supply from just one supplier, especially one that has a completely different political and social structure.
Makes me wonder about the wisdom of having so many of our goods made in China.
It was cheap Robert, and silly. As for China, as long as it’s only consumer goods it’s manageable, but at long last the US has woken up to trying to stop key technologies, such as chip manufacture coming under their control.
I was sitting in my office in 1998 in Dubai when one of our senior execs, who had been on assignment in China, dropped in to see me. He told me what he’d seen in his three years there and I knew at once it was a mistake. Not for my company, because we shared no IP with China, but all the other companies haemorrhaging IP in the pursuit of the holy grail of slave labour manufacturing costs. This IP has catapulted a Country which shares no Western values to the position it is in today. All because of the drive for quarterly EPS. Greed at a corporate level combined with ignorance at a political level. The same combination that gave us the financial crash.
Seems to me that such is the root of the problem, evidenced by the size of the salaries they award themselves.
