And it’s ugly, too.
That was my first thought too. I can’t get the link to work because I don’t want cookies - what’s the answer please?
Oh my, that’s fugly! ![]()
Blimey…
Maybe it looks better in real life but that price is ridiculous. I wouldn’t give it houseroom. ![]()
Have they put their telephone number in there by mistake ?
Like some paintings, pieces of art etc, it will appreciate in value, but you might not want to display it in your home.
What looks initially like weird striping is actually growth rings, but it’s ‘unusual’ to cut a section of trunk that way to use as a soundboard, and I suspect it will be fragile unless laminated and not sound great.
Doesn’t seem bad for €365?
It’s €365K and looks like a YTS trainee sanded it?
Go home, Thoman, you’re drunk.
Oh dear!!!
Martin, not Thomann.
And stored in a temperature and humidity suitable environment or the rings will shrink
I had a wander round the Gibson place in Nashville back in the summer. The second hand guitars, even just wooden basic ones made your eyes water and then there was the electric ones used by certain musicians previously - some cost more than my house!
Link’s not working, but hand-made custom one-off guitars can be pricey, yes!
I agree that it’s fugly.
It’s worth remembering that with ‘hand made’ you’re paying for the rarity somewhat, and it doesn’t guarantee a great instrument. I bought a Heritage guitar (hand made by ex-Gibson luthiers in the old Kalamazoo factory) sight unseen shipped from the US, and it was never a good instrument. Certainly looked nice enough, but never sounded great.
I know nothing whatsoever about guitars, but from a visual design standpoint, the circular centre of the growth rings has no apparent relationship to the guitar’s circular sound hole.
I think that’s purposeful. I don’t think the maker wanted any sort of symmetry and I don’t think it would look as good if there was.
Given the size of rhe guitar and the distance between each growth ring it looks like the cross section veneer was taken from a pithy fast growing tree which makes the veneer very unstable in the long term
Short video of the guitar….a work of art? Not to be played?
After just watching that I’ve changed my mind , I now think it’s ridiculously expensive, overdone tacky, for a**holes with no taste and more money than sense as well as totally fugly.
