This article reminds me of a time in Le Touquet at the excellent airfield restaurant where I asked for Dover sole - only to be told “Monseur, we do not 'ave the Dover sole as it is thrown back in la manche pour the eenglish boats to peek up” - couldn’t argue with that so settled for an excellent sole meunière instead
