Journées du patrimoine

Here is the link for those who’d like to consider visiting some of the thousands of places available during the Journées du Patrimoine (JdP) weekend this year. It’s on 21/22 September.

If you haven’t previously experienced the JdP, many of the sites to visit (usually for free) are not normally accessible to the general public, and some absolute gems can be found. I’ve been enjoying the JdP for over 30 years in the UK equivalent ("Open Doors) and France, and constantly come across new places to visit even in areas I thought I knew quite well.

Highly recommended. I believe the idea behind it was French inspired, and it’s now extended across several other European countries the same weekend.

Thanks @George1 - I’d completely forgotten about this, though we’ve taken advantage in the past.

Thanks @george1 . Like Porridge, I’ve taken advantage of some of these in the past but it’s good to know the actual dates in advance so I can put them on the calendar!

Reactivating this thread for 2026 with a link to Veiolia’s offering. Sadly none near us as I woukd be interested in a composting or recycling centre.

This is map of what is available, when and where, this year…
