€60 off the list price and with free delivery. The Kindle Fire HD 7" (16GB) is just €139 on Amazon France (Currently 199 at Darty). This is the cheapest I can find it anywhere. The 32 GB version is also available with the same discount for €169.
Whilst this is a Kindle, it's not simply an e-book reader, it's also a full colour fully functioning Android tablet, Amazon's version of Apple's iPad or the Samsung Galaxy Tablet.
It's not clear whether this is a permanent price drop or a short term promotion that will be increased as Christmas approaches. The latter I suspect.
I'm scouring the web for more deals like this, let me know in the comments below if you're interested in this kind of thing and I'll keep looking!
The lady from Halifax that resides with me has her birthday later this month and had been making subtle comments about how nice it would be to receive such a tablet; so it has been reduced in price just at the right time.
I got the 32GB version a couple of months ago (recommended in the review I read) after having an older version for a few years. I am impressed with it although, to date, the 16GB would have had more memory than I will require.
It isn't an iPad but it isn't near the price of one and does all the things that I require. Notably, the camera is meant more as a webcam and is not meant as a general camera.
I did find that there were minor problems with my Microsoft-based email account but have since changed to gmail which is fully compatible. I had the same problem with my Samsung phone and Microsoft. Apparently "hotmail"-based addresses (including "live") won't talk civilly to Google-based units.
Will definately be forwarding this to hubby as I'm missing it like crazy! For me Half the price of a basic Ipad and honestly did everything I wanted/needed AND reduced the weight in my bag as I had my E-Reader and a basic tablet/Apps center all in one.
Yes possibly not as rich in Aps content as other tablets but is getting better all the time. It has some speed issues depending on your connection type (wifi, 3g etc....) but Amazon has customer service second to none and no witing in lines or having to go to an apple store to be treated like cattle!
