Glad that’s cleared up
Might not other states have some objection to Israel claiming Jerusalem for their own?
His favourite artistes are The Three Degrees, as I recall, but I don’t think “When Will I See You” will really work as a national anthem.
I keep reading the title of this thread as “King Charles ill” and turn on the news to see what’s happened to him…
ah… I thought that had been cleared up. I didn’t make assumptions either and as @Geof_Cox confirmed when he agreed that the member concerned had previously made a reference to her “husband” I relied on that as a reference to gender.
I don’t recall making any assumptions requiring an apology to you beyond that.
But… if it helps you move on… I apologise if I was seen as being sexist
I was referring to the gif of a woman tearing her hair out
If I’d thought for one minute the member concerned was male, I would have found an equally amusing one in that gender
will this one do?

Not a day for cheap shots at the Queen certainly, but surely every day is the day for slagging the multitudinous hanger-ons around her ![]()
For the sake of the “Firm” if he had any sense (which he has not) and his “consort" would allow him, he should abdicate immediately and let William and Kate, who seem sensible and grounded people, take over.
Let’s face it, even his Mum and Dad knew Charles is a plonker. If the monarchy has a future, it’s William and Kate.
This seems to be a common misunderstanding
If Charles abdicates, he does so for his whole line of heirs - so the monarchy would move to Anne and her descendants.
Note: This is almost certainly incorrect - see below.
I love the Italian national anthem but don’t suppose we could have that.
Ahh, I didn’t know that. Is there any way he can pass on the baton to the more marketable generation before he damages the brand?
Right - egg on face time, probably.
Edward did abdicate his whole line, but he hadn’t had children so not the same situation and it seems that, as William is 2nd in line if Charles steps aside it would just go to the current next-in-line.
However, it is not felt that the previous abdications necessarily set precident so, arguably, anything could happen.
I would have assumed Andrew personally but did the recent change in succession law influenced by William’s marriage change that retrospectively so that Anne would succeed as 2nd issue?
As I have said on several occasions (here and elsewhere)… Being Monarch is somewhat of a poisoned chalice… and not something I reckon any loving parent would deliberately force onto a son/daughter of any age…
Let alone forced onto a young Dad with 3 kids… let the lad enjoy parenthood/family life as long as possible without the pressure of the Crown.
Prince William will get his turn, in due course.
No way will he abdicate, why on earth would he? Makes no sense whatsoever and I doubt it would have been the Queen’s wish to say the least!
I do think the smart thing for him to do is set an agenda with William (ecology, climate, modernisation of the “Firm” etc.) and let him and Kate, the acceptable and approachable face of modern royalty, get on with it.
I think once he is coronated, he could pass the Crown to William… Edward VIII abdicated before coronation ISTR so passed to “Bertie” as second in line at the time (It was a bit before my time
)
why does the anthem have to have words why not a instrumental piece.
Oh, I agree it is unlikely that he would abdicate, and it would cause just as much constitutional ruckus as it did last time.
Charles will make a good king, William has more time to live a bit and learn the trade.
Gos save the King.
