King Charles's speech

Look at the big Moron shaking hands with his own cabinet without introducing them to his royal guest

And practically pushing the Queen out of his way to do it

Gross! I thought C&C handled it beautifully.

I’m sure they’re laughing like drains about it now as they sip G&Ts in Bermuda

I was in NY shortly after Trump Tower opened. At the time it was a “must see”. The pink piano was the best bit.

Yes the world doesn’t know he is as gay as they come.

With pink and gold involved as Sue says, it does sound a bit Liberace.

Very clever, I thought. The cheeky bastard. :stuck_out_tongue: I love the bell gift and the meaning behind it! DJT is clueless…

Don’t forget those big beautiful men who came to sheild him in.the staged attack.

More tact and diplomacy that the orange one would see as complimentary

cleverly put and quite obvious to anyone with nous. Perhaps Trump too stupis to understand it, particularly thebit about magna carta and executive orders. i’m sure he had a great deal of input.

I mean of course that charles had a deal of input not the other one!!!

Don’t think Trump’s too stupid to have not understood it on a superficial level, but his infatuation with the British monarchy probably filtered out the nuances, particularly the HMS Trump bell, that seems to be very a clever and erudite reference to Graham Greene’s Quiet American, who inadvertently caused so much mayhem that he needed a bell around his neck like a leper to warn people.

‘Innocence is like a dumb leper who has lost his bell, wandering the world, meaning no harm.’

I love that quote, not heard it before but where is it from, or is it your own?

Of course you’re right and he would have most likely got the reference to hi exec orders and just thought it was royal woke. The bell is quite another story! however none of it wll make any difference to him, let’s hope the mid terms give him a shock. The may day crowds were encouraging. I bet Charles and Camilla were glad to be home, they’ll need a holiday. All that ghastly cutlery.

I surely wasn’t the only person who saw the look of utter disbelief on Charles’ face as people stood and applauded after every other word that he said.

Graham Greene’s The Quiet American

There’s a plot summary and analysis that explains at:-

Walking through the forest this evening with my wife and dogs, a large SUV skidded to a halt, and wound down its window. The driver shouted over the engine noise, “is one of you British”? My wife cheerfully pointed me out, and the driver reached over and shook my hand warmly. He then said what appeared to be the French equivalent of ‘that was one helluva speech by your King, many congratulations’ and drove off. We know him by sight as the owner of a large nearby safari park. Quite touched.
