La Poste and parcel from the UK - is this right?

I use a Raymond Blanc/Bruno Loubet recipe for a veggie chilli con carne. He adds dark chocolate at the end and we think it makes a difference. It doesn’t even taste as if it’s meatless and fooled a friend’s avidly carnivore in-laws, we eat it quite often.

But the social security cover is excellant - eg maternity, unemployment, sick leave etc etc - as well as pension rights no matter that the French protest about them!

Been having this kind of conversation with my son. He lives in London, so is on a good UK salary (although TBF his cost of living is eye-watering). I’m trying to get him to think of the bigger picture… But he’s young and so retirement seems a very long way off for him.

The limit is €300 but, if it’s a single purchase then vat and duty is payable on the entirety, not just on the balance above the duty free allowance.

That’s a useful site John but as I’m flying the allowance is €430.

I think if you’re over, they charge VAT/duty (,if duty applicable) on the lot including what would have been your free allowance

Can’t remember offhand the free allowance if arriving by air but tnink it might be 430 euros. it’s sligbtly different, potentially slightly less, if arriving by other transport.

But are there 2 of you? Would have thought that’s 2x the allowance then.

If his employer offers a pension scheme where they match the money he puts in, he needs to join it and max the maximum contribution.

Ah, apologies, I made an assumption and you know that they say.

Depends. If they can split the stuff and place an order each ( so there are two invoices) then it can work. If not, then allowances can’t be pooled to cover a larger value item.

My wife was going to come but decided to wait until the Spring. It would have worked out very well with us both going. Less sure it’s worth the trouble now.

Update - Found a Danish supplier that ships to France so only one item to carry back after my UK visit.

Yes! We were brought up on GYE by our vegetarian mother in the fifties.
