Just a question really - I stayed overnight in Laon on my way to Burgundy recently, and in the morning there was a pervading smell of … something - not unpleasant but vaguely cooking or organic! It stayed with me until I was well on the way to Reims. On my return 3 days later I noticed the same smell on the motorway as I passed through the Laon area. Anybody got any ideas? Oh and by the way I saw lots of small square white tents pitched in straight rows in the same place - also any ideas?
