Latest idea to stuff the Autoentrepreneur!

If you really want some 'fun' (sic) go to: www.ramgamex.fr/portal/public/ramgamex to see RAM's newsletter and get yourself lost in French bureaucratic meaningless drivel. If you are bored with the English equivalents and also, I might add, with life itself just go for it. Then find a hunter from the other post to put you out of your misery!

Oh! Dear! It is impossible for these bureaucracts to leave any legislation alone. They have very little idea on how the real world works and have never had a real job least of all running their own business. Even if this doesn't go ahead they will think up something else because that is their job!

Last year we were told that we had completed our tax form incorrectly. But Madame, we said, your colleague over their filled it in for us. impossble, she said and called him over. We had been taxed under wrong scheme. No Madame, I did not he said. Yes you did we chorussed! That's your handwriting, here's ours. After more wrangling he admitted he must have filled it in. She then filled it in "correctly", which led to us not owing any tax, much to her annoyance. I'm sure when we go in next year, we will be in a different regime.

Did you hear that 'Hurrah' where you are? Me too, it is not about France or the French because I have had more than my fair share of badgering in the UK and far worse in Switzerland, simply that some of these things appear designed to harass people into submission without asking questions. I do, but waste an awful lot of time trying to get answers.

Four letter word starting with S and finishing with T springs to mind with a large exclamation mark after it. We have been having a very lean year because of the world economic situation and do not expect enormous improvement in the next couple of years. Our consultancy rates are now roughly 2/3 of what they were 12 years ago in order to keep a toe in. Now to have to pay for our almost unnecessary accounts is an affront. We have to submit detailed book keeping, receipts and so on to the charities and international organisations we work for and have already had to negotiate having separated cheques for repayments of tickets, hotels and so on in order not to get stung for taxation of the whole sum paid. Now this is a step too far and could drive a few us to the wall. Ironically, what we do is supposed to be for the good of humanity and what we get from those representing we human beings is a wall of bureaucracy and taxes that make no sense. Not blaming the French, other countries are equal to them but in other ways. But... aaaaargh!

Merci Wendy.

Merci Wendy. It will be making my work so complicated if it passes.

Hi Emily,

If you live in Frace and carry out your work in France, you have to cotisise and pay taxes in France. I know somone who is having immense difficulties with the fisc because they carried on running a ltd company whilst living in France. NOt to be reccommeded!

Hi Emily,

I like your thinking, and agree it sounds very tempting. However, as I understand it, you may come across some difficulties living and running a business from France, when that business is HQ'd in another country. Reckon those who collect taxes might take a dim view...! Give me a call or pm me if you'd like to talk it through. Have a good weekend.

Lynda

Most business people in France suffer or will do so any time sooner or later, no doubt about that. Starting a Limited company (Ltd) in the UK can be done in a day, is much les troublesome, costs much less and allows you to bill in France...

Hi Emily,

I keep up to date by receiving e mail and Facebook up dates from FEDAE http://www.federation-auto-entrepreneur.fr/auto-entrepreneur/actualite/2011/12/01/actualite-encore-une-arnaque-soyez-vigilants.html. The sign up link is top right of page, you can pay to join but you don't have to, you still get the info.

You may well be right Emily!
