CFE = cotisation foncière des entreprise (replaces the old taxe professionelle) not to be confused with CFE = centre deS formalités des entreprise!
a fonctionnaire is a civil servant (excuse mu spelling mistake on the last post!) they make up about 25% of the workforce in France, can't be sacked/have a job for life and every one seems to want that sort of stability here (when I asked a bright class of lycée kids what they wanted to do, around half said they wanted to be fonctionnaire - can't imagine that in the uk!)

I am thinking of setting up as an auto entreporeneur, in fact have appointment at pole emploi to sort it out. One of the attractions is the ease, lack of accountants and what may I ask is CFE? I haven't come across it on any ofd the information and I seem ti have had information overload! Also Andrew wnat is a functionnaore?
They're going to end up shooting themselves in the foot if they keep this up... we promise no additional charges, just a % of turnover... oh sorry we forgot to mention the cfe... and now we think it'd be a good idea to pay an accountant regardless of turnover or need to do so... only in France and yet another reason why everyone wants to be a functionnaire !
