Yes, I don’t know why, I’ve always used the word suspenders
That said, the thought of these CF chaps wearing Folies Bergeres style suspenders is amusing.

That sounds like Farage and his bleeping union jack socks. He could wear suspenders with those though.

He probably does.

Is that not illegal in France then? it certainly is in Germany

Does that mean Jewish people are also aimed to be excluded as well? I find that strange given the position, influence and integration of families that are also Jewish, in France.

I’m not sure why they should. They host the meal they choose the menu. It’s their choice. Potentially they restrict their numbers of guests, unless they can continuously fill it with meat eaters.
I’ve had this discussion with friends who mention the “issue” with restaurants that don’t serve vegetarian dishes. If the patron doesn’t want to serve non meat dishes again that’s their choice, they aren’t obliged to do so. I’ve eaten in numerous Michelin restaurants that don’t cater for vegetarians or allergies. Go elsewhere. I don’t go to BMW knowing they don’t supply Audi.

It is illegal, yes. But the worst they can get is a fine, and most of them are happy to pay it - that’s if anybody was bothered to catch them. It seems that environmentalists risk a lot more when they protest against the A69 motorway or against the “Megabassines” reservoirs.

The Jewish population in France is no more than 7 or 800000 people, so I don’t think that even crossed their mind. The far-right is usually affiliated to (a certain part of) the Catholic church - I am not saying Catholics are all far right of course.

Oh dear. That says a lot about the rise of the Far Right doesn’t it.

And the Muslim population, is that much bigger then?

Who said anybody was obliged to do so? The absence of vegetarian option in 2026 is becoming unusual. A restaurant is a place where people get together, vegetarians included. I don’t see how it compares to a garage.
A business model, however, that gathers 500 people for a meal and doesn’t include a vegetarian option, is clearly sending a political message.
Did I mention the carefully chosen Sardou songs they sing at the end? Feminists are not welcome either…

10 times more - always has been through our history

Estimated at 4 to 5,7 million. We can’t really tell though since religion isn’t asked about in the census.

It’s a real proctologists’ convention.

So the restaurants that don’t serve vegetarian/vegan dishes or cater for the myriad of allergies do so for political reasons? OK.
Have you run a restaurant business?

I was responding to the comment made earlier in the thread that they don’t serve vegetarian food as if there was some sort of legal obligation to do so.
What these people do regarding the other aspects I don’t give a damn. It’s none of my business and certainly don’t want to be involved.

Nah, haven’t rolled a Camberwell Carrot in decades.

The Austrian corporal was a vegetarian and had a personal Mystic Meg to advise him.

Clearly she never saw “Land war in Russia is not advised” nor “Don’t touch America’s boats” in the stars, the cards or tea leaves.
