I need to replace the contacts for the light switch as they have become more intermittent over time.
The problem is that some genius has grouted the switch surround into the tiles, so I’d really like to know if the contacts can be accessed without removing the whole kit and caboodle from the wall.
I’m pretty sure that you have to unclip the surround to get at the actual switches. If you run a sharp knife around the edges, lightly and repeatedly, you will eventually clear away the grout. It’ll probably take no more than 5-10 minutes. Once you’ve removed the grout, slip a thin flat blade screwdriver into the gap and lever the surround out of the hole. It should unclip and then just pull it out - carefully so as not to break the clips.
You can get the switch covers off using a small flat screwdriver, but to get to the actual switches AFAIK the fascia plate has to ve removed to get to the actual switches
