Hi
Looking for some advice / guidance - my father in law died in March 2019 and my husband, brother and their step-sisters inherited a rural house near Charlieu which he had bought in the 70’s and used as a holiday home.
When he was alive, he used to use the property for 3-4 months of the year as he was a retired professor.
Unfortunatly we now rarely get to use the property, only coming out for two weeks each year.
The place was a wreck when my father in law bought it and they did it up over the years, but very much ‘on the cheap’.
We are considering trying to get it up to a standard to which we can rent it out as a holiday cottage - however it will need a lot of work.
One of the major issues is the electrics which are very outdated and no where near code!
We keep getting the letters about the Linky meter - and obviously are now paying the supplement for not having one.
My question is - if I get them out to fit the Linky meter now are they likely to condemn the existing electrics and switch off our supply?
Are we just better off paying the supplement until we can get the rewire done?
