I like watching Tim.
What he says about Rees-Mogg is seemigly correct.
The Tories no longer bother to hide their corruption and cronyism.
This morning’s announcement suggests that they are still vulnerable though.
The best that came from Philps (Chief Sec to the Treasury) on Sky News this morning when pressed was that it has proved the Tories are willing to listen…
Friggin larfable…
Proving just how out of touch the Tories are with reality Jake Berry (party Chairman) says that people can either cut consumption if they can’t afford their energy bills or simply “get higher-paid jobs”.
he looked like a CHAV with his shaved head… A least we were spared them panning the camera down to show off his bovver boots ![]()
Quite. Why did she not ask the simple question, from whom or where did Truss &co get the financial details upon which they based their strategy? Or is it all made up on the back of a scrap of foolscap in the Commons Bar?
This in today’s NYT:
Analysis: “I don’t know whether these people have convinced themselves that the experts were wrong about Brexit and so they are going to be wrong again,” said Anand Menon, a professor of European politics and foreign affairs at King’s College London. “That just strikes me as unconscionably stupid, but that doesn’t rule it out.”
also… “we have listened” should have a response “what did you hear?” and “lessons have been learnt” with “what did you learn?” rather than just the typical nodding donkey blank look so often associated with poor journalistic ability. Not unlike the vacant look on a baby’s face whilst doing a dump in their nappy…
Latest attempt by UK government to ship illegal immigrants to Rwanda ends in failure as Boaty McBoatface runs aground on the beach at St Georges de Didonne
Brilliant excoriating analysis of the first four weeks of the Truss government.
The writer worked in No. 10 when Cameron was PM, so written by one of their own, and can be seen as reflecting the attitudes of a significant number of Tory MPs. Change by Easter next year which will give the next one 12 months to try and resore Tory fortunes before spring 2024 election .
It was an enjoyable read until it got to the point of writing “Even the usually sensible Thérèse Coffey…”
I can’t now remember who said it on SF (maybe @KarenLot ?) but suggesting that these Tories would eat their own young was spot on!
“A band playing the Benny Hill theme tune. Says it all really.
TC reminds me of my granny!
you have my condolences ![]()
Liz Truss’s personal approval rating of -47 is now the worst ever recorded for a prime minister in an Opinium poll for the Observer. It is a worse rating than that recorded for Boris Johnson during Partygate or Theresa May just before her resignation.
All so very predictable.
Going to have to mute this and some other threads, such total contempt is really p1ssing me off.
It’s true, isn’t it? There is total contempt for Truss and Kwarteng. In fact there is total contempt for most if not all of the Cabinet. But Corona I think it’s deserved, these people are not fit to serve. It’s tragic.
To be fair, you don’t have to be particularly left-wing to be outraged by the dismal performance of the last three Conservative leaders, each one worse than the last!
And now, with Truss and Kwarteng, we have Johnson’s arrogance combined with Corbyn’s incompetence.
