LNB for internet satellite

I use Nordnet as a back up to wimax. The Tooway Satellite dish and bi-directional LNB supplied are standard for that system, as far as I know. The satellite used is the same, the set up of your account and access will be via your supplier's satellite modem. So I would have thought that if you purchased your equipment, you can re-use it through an alternative supplier.

I think you'll need an iLNB.

"You need to replace your TV LNB with a specialised LNB which is designed to prevent the received satellite television signals from being swamped by the transmissions from your Internet access iLNB."

Have a look at this page, https://www.satelliteinternet.co.uk/component/content/category/33-guides for setting it up etc and this one for general - what you need http://www.satsearch.co.uk/contents/en-uk/d96.html

Please note: I have nothing to do with these companies, just googled iLNB for you :o)

As far as i'm aware your standard 'LNB Universelle' will do the job - about 30€ from any big supermarket

Hello Julia,

Sorry we cannot give you A good answer to your question, but maybe this is interesting for You… Since we have changed last week from Astra internet to fiber optic (fixend line), thanks to grading up the line in our village, our complete Nordnet equipment is for sale. You can still see it in perfect working order at this moment.
Sorry for our English…as we are from Holland…
Kind regards, Machel and Ellen

Thanks Paul, I had been wondering how Satellite internet worked for a while now....

I'm considering getting it myself because you can get an English IP address I understand, very useful of course for when the Satellite TV eventually packs up....;o))

Now it's clear! Many thanks Paul.

The LNB on a satellite internet connection is effectively part of the modem or box as the French call them. That's probably why it needs changing when you change the box from Tooway to Viveole.

An Internet capable LNB transmits as well as receives, so it's a completely different device from the usual LNB, which simply receives.

Thanks Shirley, but no, it's satellite for internet/LNB info I need, not for TV. TV is a totally different satellite and dish.
