Looking for a wood burning stove

Stuart’s wood burning stove in his workshop has finally died so we’re looking for a replacement.
Has anyone got one for sale please - 120mm pipe will be used.

Edit: We are located between Parthenay and Bressuire in North Deux Sevres

What sort of size are you looking for? Is the workshop large or small ?

There is a small and very plain looking “Chappée” wood burner that has been sitting unused in my cave for at least 25yrs. 50cm wide, 35cm deep, 50cm tall with 80mm diameter flue outlet. All the bits seem to be there but it may need a little work to restore to functionality. (The 60mm square mica front ‘view point’ panel is present but detached.) We are just over the border into Vendee (30 mins south west of Bressuire). Free to a good home. Just needs some muscle to bring it up the cellar steps. Could send some photos if you have interest.

Robert - we’ve just got back from Parthenay having bought a new woodburner. It’s being delivered tomorrow so we want to thank you for your very kind offer but we’re sorted now.
p.s. Stuart has been working extra hard just recently and is a bit short of muscle power at the moment. Me thinks he needs Popeye’s spinach!

Be better of with some protein

Oh that does bring back memories… Mum trying to persuade her brood to eat their greens… Little Bro’ would flex his little arms to show how strong he was

The power of marketing eh? It’s lasted so many years but kids still don’t like it :joy:

Marketing and cunning .. Little Bro’ would not eat marrow… suddenly decided he didn’t like it.

In those days Dad grew all the fruit and veg and we would eat it .. like it or not… no money to buy whatever

Mum informed LBro that “this isn’t marrow, it’s artichoke” … and LBro cleared his plate

My Dad had a different technique for my oh so fussy brother. He would upturn the plate on his head.

Spinach was always quoted as being good for you as it contained lots of vitamins and minerals.

Then I remember reading that the information given was incorrect as the decimal point was put in the wrong place giving a false reading (something like 10.0 instead of 1.0) so it meant that it was just as good for you as any other vegetable but so matter what - fussy brothers (and sisters too I bet) still wouldn’t eat it!

What it IS good for (along with other, preferably dark, leafy greens is macular degeneration)

Have you got the muscles to prove it?

What is bad is sugar and insulin resistance causing glycation.

Stuart’s new wood burner is now in situ.

The one that was kaput in his workshop was an old Godin which was given to us when we first came to France and looked like this

Over the years we’ve had a few woodburners. The first (and we would have liked to bring it to France but it was sold with the farmhouse) was this Colebrookdale. They are the Rolls Royce of wood burners and are really heavy. It took 4 men to carry it into the house. It was connected up to a Dunsley Neutraliser which marries up two heating systems – the Colebrookdale plus the oil burner.

Then, when we came to France we bought a Godin Regence which we have in the front room.

This is Bobby’s favourite place to stay during the colder nights, as you can see.

We’ve bought a stove fan from Lidl to help with circulating the heat around the workshop. So Stuart can look forward to lots of nice warm days in his workshop in the coming weeks and months.
