Looking for boiler recommendations for my apartment. Now have a Saunier Duval that is 5 years old but tenants didn't maintain it and it got mucked up. Thinking I should just replace it. Any suggestions? Many thanks
Saunier Duval? Valliant? Buderus? Any boiler preference?
Yes, but my French tenant was also played. I neglected to mention that the 75 year-old French gentleman who is my tenant ignored my first request to simply get a new boiler after he withheld the 491 from rent due me but the boiler wasn't fixed. He gave the repair company another 700 euros. For nothing.
He and his daughter (45 years old, only slightly more sane) then ran into the original installers who assured them it should be no problem to fix (thus the new quote of 300 to 1300).
Father and daughter are (still) very reluctant to have me purchase a new one. Really?
Ah yes the great mystery of repairing, which involves actually diagnosing the problem rather than a fitters job of systematic replacement of parts until the correct one is eventually found but this on the job training is paid for by the customers. I would not stop short of requesting all parts replaced which were not faulty are re fitted and the not needed new parts are taken out. These people are supposed to be Pros'?
The same happens with modern cars, The engine overheat warning comes on, change the overheat sensor! No find out if the engine is over heating. This exact situation on the relly's Merc and parts are not cheap. As a real engineer I get disgusted with these types and by the sound of it you are being played at a distance by a company of near useless repairers but bloody well trained at money extraction.
You would think so. However, my tenant had repairs done for 491 euros and the problem was not resolved. The repair company he used was (obviously) questionable.
Now the estimate is - above the 491 already paid - is 300 to 1300 from the original installer. While they do not think it would cost above (another) 400, I would have to authorize up to 1300 euros.
The cost of the boiler, installed in 2009 was 1585 euros.
I believe it would be most safe, though regrettable, to simply purchase a new one.
What's mucked up? most parts are replaceable for less than a new boiler.
