Hey everyone! So, we’re planning a big move from Canada to France, and we need some advice. We’ve been looking into moving companies, but there are so many options, we’re a bit overwhelmed! Has anyone here moved internationally recently? Any tips on reliable movers, or things we should look out for? We’d really appreciate any recommendations to make this transition a little smoother. Looking forward to hearing your experiences!
Despite your user name I would venture to suggest that you might find things easier if you were Quebecois. If you can stand the derision your pronunciation of the local language might attract that is. We have one in our village and he was mocked mercilessly when he had to take over the Loto calling one time. They never, openly, mock my English accent though.
I can’t help with your question though, my move here was a long time ago and in an entirely different age, but I do welcome you aboard and wish you all the best with the advice I am sure you will get.
Welcome to France, immanently!
Although I cannot say about moving companies in Canada, I would advise you check specifically from whoever you are getting estimates, who is the company they use in France for the delivery and unpacking. It is a critical point because some this end may be cheaper but are extremely poor service.
I wish you best of luck with the move and hope you enjoy the journey.
Just remembered that our stuff was brought by Pickfords, a very very old English company but by that time was called Allied Pickfords and I believe the Allied bit might be N.American.
They were really good, even carrying everything from the lane (which they had got a permit to block completely) up a slope and over rough ground to get it into the house before putting dismantled stuff, like a 100 year old grandfather clock, back together again.
Pickfords was once a good English firm. No longer.
The company has been sold and resold. Not kind to staff and uses a lot of inexperienced day labourers. My personal experience echoes these reviews
If the choice is yours - Avoid!
Hi everyone,
I’m looking for reliable commercial moving services to help relocate our business operations to France. We need a company experienced in handling international moves, especially for office equipment, inventory, and sensitive electronics. Timely delivery, insurance options, and customs handling are important to us. If you’ve had a positive experience with a professional mover for a similar relocation, I’d really appreciate your recommendations. Please share any trusted companies or tips to make the process smoother.
Thanks in advance!
Where are you moving from?
Graebel International did our move from Texas after I retired, previous to that my company had used them to move us from Europe.
Yellow pages?
From a post they made on another thread, the OP appears to be moving from Canada to France…
Hi everyone,
My friend is currently looking for reliable international moving companies to help ship personal belongings overseas. They’re relocating and need a trusted service that handles packing, customs clearance, and safe delivery. Ideally, the company should offer tracking and reasonable pricing. If anyone has recommendations based on personal experience or knows of reputable companies, please share! Any tips on what to watch out for when choosing an international mover would also be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
Hi @MacKenzie12 and welcome to the forum!
There have been a few threads about this I think so might be worth doing a search?
https://www.survivefrance.com/search?q=international%20movers
Also if you can be more specific about where from and to, that would probably help. Is your friend moving to France?
Indeed. With three in recent days from the OP describing a variety of circumstances…
Yes, that’s confusing.
@MacKenzie12 is it actually you (and your business) or “a friend” who is moving?
Hi everyone,
I’m looking for a reliable and experienced moving service to transport heavy machinery to France. The equipment is large and requires careful handling, possibly with cranes or forklifts. Ideally, the company should have experience with international logistics, customs clearance, and heavy-duty transport. If you’ve used a service like this or can recommend a trustworthy provider, please share details or contact info. Timely and secure delivery is a top priority.
Thanks in advance!
HI @MacKenzie12 - I’m a bit puzzled by your post - I think this about the fourth variation on a theme of “please recommend an international mover” you have posted recently.
I don’t think the repetition is going to get you any different answers…
Almost like someone’s harvesting provider names for a directory or a database they’re producing…sigh!!
I suggest you find a friend with a suitable sized truck and get them to do it.
I was going to suggest Beck and Pollitzer who we have used in the past
Don’t forget to suggest them in the three other threads.
