Not correct Corona. The MOT test in UK plugs the car into a machine for enough time. It’s not just done idling. My diesel Peugeot at very advanced age has continued to get all measurements for pollution zero, for a number of years except for just one of the measurements 0,1 last year only the rest staying zero.
Well I shall not waste my money on an EV then and will immediately inform the london Mayor that we allready have zero emmission vehicles whoopee!

But its only measuring CO (carbon monoxide) and nitrous oxides, which the catalyser should reduce to inimal levels. Its why the test usnt done at idling engine speeds. They dont measure carbon dioxide, thats determined by the manufacturer (VW etc BS)
I’ve sat in and watched 2 of my MOT tests in full and can assure you that the car did not spend its time idling.
Personally I’d have given that guy from VW a medal. As he showed up how inadequate the prescribed testing is. As some of you seem to be saying.
Sorry Karen, I wasnt actually saying that. With the normal engine temp its recorded at idle and about 3000- 4000rpm. The cheat devices still knew this as steering wasnt moving, no weight on driving seat etc. On a dispatches chanel 4 prog they took the car to shop and a guy sat there and manually did the same thing and emissions doubled on the rolling road the guy drove as he would nprmally and they trippled.
A retired VOSA tester said, oh never done that as its not part of our test Doh!
