Lula wins the election in Brazil

Nice to wake up to good news for a change. Apparently Trump is calling fraud! Surprise

That’s a relief, I agree, although it’s not over yet. I imagine Bolsonaro was straight on the phone to Donny when the result went against him.

Looking good too in Serbia!

Is Brazil next on his regime change list?

I hope not. I was meaning more that Bolsonaro might want Trump’s backing for denying the election result. And it would be good practice for Trump if it doesn’t go well on 3rd November.

Trump could cause a lot of trouble in Brazil. Hope he is persuaded not to.

Great news for a change.

The people who would have done that did not get jobs in his second administration.

Trump needs a distraction but not one that would lose him even more support. Maybe after the mid-terms

You need him to throw his hat into the Le Pen ring, that should scupper her chances. Seems like everyone he backs looses, seems like he’s good for something after all.

Have they got oil?

Yes. Someone I know worked on an oil rig out there.

Hopefully he’ll be persuaded to focus on America rather than Brazil.

It must surely be clear to him by now that intervening in other parts of the world is not a vote winner.

Bolsanaro is of course shouting ‘foul’. But this is beginning to wear a bit thin.

Clearly none of you spend any meaningful time in Brazil..

Oh yes, send Vance to France that seemed to do the trick in the German elections. Looked like the right might win, he arrived and there was a complete turnaround.

Meaning what?

I read an interesting article that predicted the exact opposite. If after the midterms he becomes a lame duck he may well turn to the international scene, as if he hadn’t done enough damage there alteady. There are precedents for lame duck US presidents doing this, Daddy Bush and Obama are two the article mentioned. Obama pushed through the Iran nuclear agreement, which the fool Trump trashed and got us where we are today.

Trump could be an even bigger danger to the World when frustrated at home.

Brazil oil production?
It has an annual surplus of oil, and just under 1% of global reserves.
Not a major player, but any ole megalomaniacal president might well like to control said surplus.
A notable bio-fuel production too.

Organised crime is off the charts in Brazil and closely liked to the government.

True, but no fascist was going to fix it. Fascists fix nothing, they just feed off unrest.
