Malin et sneaky

I saw this story during the week, but I didn’t realise they were anglais.

Call me an old cynic, but I suspect the word “English” might be doing some heavy lifting there.

Sneaky chests exist in every nationality under the sun.

Newsworthy perhaps because foreigners discovered the trick first, albeit an illegal one. The downside is this type of story getting traction and tarring ‘The English’ at a time when the rest of us are judiciously towing the line and grateful to our host nation.

“À bas les Anglais!”

:hot_springs:

What did they allegedly do? Sorry its behind a paywall.

Didnt pay at the autoroute peages by lifting the barriers I think

Makes a change from the french tailgating through! Had that twice.

Reported elsewhere too. Lifted barrier, and did it repeatedly so not a one off.

Over period of 6 months.

I read it at the time and wondered if they laid tarmac as a sideline

Almost certain they were Irish having €3000 cash to pay on the spot.

Further down the article, also in the Doubs, another person was relieved of €9000 for tailgating.

It’s surprising that the gendarmerie appear not to have a marker system for identifying vehicles of interest. The UK seems to be well ahead of that game.

Hope they got the two that tailgated me.

A touch pejorative perhaps? No indication at all of their origin.

I’ve not read about how any fine was paid, but would have thought questions would have been asked about the source of that much cash.
