Merry Christmas Everyone

Very best wishes to everyone here for a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year.

Special good wishes to any of you who are on your own or not able to be with loved ones.

For those of you who are travelling, or have friends or family travelling to you - here’s one of my favourite Christmas songs. Takes me back to those years in my 30s when I set out in my mini from my flat in Battersea late on Christmas Eve, presents wrapped at the last minute, piled on the back seat, heading down the A24 to Leatherhead to be with my parents and my brother. A lifetime ago.

And to you too (and everyone else on SF) Sue.

My son tells me it’s been snowing non-stop for the last 2 days in Verbier.

Very generous of the mouse!

I had to, with some difficulty, lie on the bedroom floor this morning and sweep under the bed because my wife thought our cat had left part of a dead rat there. In the event it was some fluff from something woolly of hers.

I really hope that that video was not extracted from your dashcam Sue, because errr, you’re on the wrong side of the road. :astonished:

But have a very happy one nevertheless, to everyone. :joy:

And a happy Christmas to you David, I am thinking of you especially and hope this will not be too difficult a time for you.

Thank you, that’s kind, but for the last few years all Christmas has really meant is that there are slightly fewer carers arriving for a couple days. This one will certainly be different though. :grinning:

My family are up at Les Angles and they have been having a good half metre of snow falling each night since they arrived on sunday morning. Cars not allowed past a certain point unless fitted with chains or snow tyres and as its the main road to Andorra you can understand that. They had snow tyres fitted this year as chains are a pain to put on and they tend to go up there quite a bit now until end Feb.

My BIL got up in the night some years back for a pee, found his slippers by the bed in the dark and thought he had left a sock in one of them. When he came back he found he had squashed a dead rat one of the cats had put in his slipper and his foot was a lovely mess. I still laugh about it now, couldn’t have happened to a nicer bloke (Brexiteer/Fartyage fan)

Thanks @Shiba, but going to be a bit harder after that revelation. :astonished:
Thank goodness I don’t have cats, dogs don’t do such things, and I don’t have to get up for a pee, but if I did it would be extreme urgence and I wouldn’t be messing about to find a slipper. :joy:

As to snow chains, about a dozen years ago when I was buzzing about all over the place with rescue dogs, I decided I’d better buy some just in case. What I actually bought, on later reading the packaging, were snow socks.
Didn’t matter, never needed, still in the bag in the car. :joy:

I do remember though, 50 odd years ago when I was driving my lorry over the Blonc to Italy regularly, I checked that the great lump of chains hanging off the back of the chassis were still there in case I got stopped. Never was and never needed them even though often driving in snow. Good job too, as one day with time on my hands I thought I had better open them out to teach myself how to fit them. They weren’t snow chains at all, just a bunch of random chains lumped there to fool the gendarmes. :astonished:

Happy Christmas to all SFistas and the best of health in the year to come.

Outside there is the absolute antithesis of all those Xmas cards featuring snow and windows glowing with firelight within.

Still as thick 4 hrs later.
