Smart move by Saudi, if Trump won’t help with the Houthis then cosy up to Tehran and get them to. It’s all complicated by the Shia/Sunni thing, but needs must. Now if only Lebanon, Syria and Egypt were to join such a pact…

Oman’s foreign minister said on Monday in a significant speech designed to break the deadlock over the region’s future.
Badr Albusaidi called for a non-aggression security pact involving all six Gulf states as well as Iran and Iraq. The US would in future no longer be the primary provider of security, he said.

I seem to remember hearing similar from Tom Lehrer when Kissinger was awarded the Nobel peace prize. I wonder what the excellent Mr Lehrer makes of today’s situation?
Tom Lehrer was great although I think he stopped finding life funny in the 1970s. He died last July btw.
