One of my two Kindle readers, left at a friend’s house in a nearby village, has gone completely blank - just as she was reaching the climax of a very long book. Fortunately, my second Kindle is still functioning normally and I can also still access my Audible books. However, over the last week or so I have had emails from Audible France telling me to check my new bank card details and I’ve done this and found everything to be correct. I now realise that this must have something to do with my recently starting an Audible France subscription and renewing the UK one all on the same card. I am scared I’m going to lose my many UK bought books. Has anyone experience of this?
Choose 1 nationality for each Kindle and keep the paying cards separate on each and ideally each one being paid by a card of its nationality accordngly? Amz is unlikely to give you hassle unless you make rookie errors
Dump Audible and try Bookbeat
When I moved and changed country I still had access to my bought kindle books and also my bought amazon films. (around 100 films so £500]
However, when I cancelled Prime some time later I lost access to all the films, but not the books. When I questioned it I was told that it was because I was no longer in the UK. Strange that didn’t matter until my Prime membership was up……
A lot of these “digital copies” rely on a specific service being available - I remember a few years ago when the Ultraviolet service that many of the big movie studios used to manage digital rights closed down, I had to re-register with a different service in order to be able to download digital copies of films I had bought, to watch on my iPad or laptop on flights etc. Tedious.
Prime, Netflix and other streaming services are also in the habit of dropping movies and shows from their roster without warning, so it’s my policy now to always buy a physical copy on 4K or BluRay, to ensure I can watch it in the future!
