I’ve just looked at that video and it is indeed odd that someone was following him on video camera. But if that was Michael Mosely, then he appeared to me to be in good health in the way that he is striding along quite purposely, under intense heat, after having already walked from the beach to where he is in the video. Physically he looks ok to me.
The BBC are reporting that a body has been found
“Dead for several days” - so could easily hae fallen and sustained a head injury on Wednesday.
Very sad.
So sad….
Horribly sad, and I just hope he died instantly as without a phone, and searchers thinking he was on another path, if he had been able to be saved it would be appalling for the family.
We all hoped for the best outcome - very sad news indeed.
oh gosh how shocking! Makes me think twice about hiking in extreme heat.
The heat was the icing on the cake. A slip and unfortunate juxtaposition of head and rock would have been enough on their own
So sad
There by the grace of chance…nearly happened to me not that long ago. If the indentation on my butt had been on my head I would not have fared well. My picnic lunch certainly didn’t.
Given his healthcare training and experience his actions defy logic which makes me think perhaps he was not quite himself and has sadly paid an awful price for whatever was troubling him.
Or, being intelligent and in a prominent media role lead to overconfidence.
To be fair taking the northern “path” to the marina is something I could quite easily see myself doing and thinking “doesn’t look too bad”.
As Jane says “there but for the grace…”
Alas, many a human has decided “Nah, it’ll be fine…” shortly before coming a cropper.
That’s my thought, so sad away to come to an end.
@george1 so lucky then. Comparing the looks of that slope and the one behind the marina, the ramparts of the castle looked at least as bad.
I find all this conjecture about Michael Moseley’s behavior really annoying. Nobody except those investigating know what happened to him. He may have slipped and if so it may have nothing to do with his age, the heat, time of day, phase of the moon etc. I doubt he would have done anything reckless but even that may be a false assumption. I bet the media are giving his family hell.
And yet…
I find it all quite distasteful and, other than this, other not to indulge in such threads.
Distasteful or not I think it is human nature to speculate when there is a lack of information available.
I suspect most of us would have considered that journey “safe enough” but one slip can be th difference between safe arrival or not.
I remember a walk I did with my ‘then’ wife in strong sunshine on one of the islands. We were were relieved to reach our destination when we did. We’d only walked about an hour. There was no little or no shade. It was before the age of mobile phones. I would often go off exploring while my wife lay on a beach, sometimes getting caught up in unforgiving vegetation.
Is it only me?
I had never heard or seen this man until he disappeared.
Sad about his demise but had he been A.N.Other it would be another none story except of course for family.
