Mobile phone problem

Hi all, my Android phone is infected with a virus. I have a new phone arriving soon. Can anyone tell me if my SIM card would be infected as well when I put it in my new phone ? Thank you in advance

Google AI says:

The Short Answer

  • Traditional viruses: Standard viruses cannot install or run on a SIM card because it has a tiny, isolated operating system and very limited memory. [1, 2]
  • Pop-up scams: Messages claiming your SIM card is “infected” and telling you to download an app are always fake scareware. [1]
  • Real SIM threats: Advanced or state-sponsored actors have occasionally exploited SIM vulnerabilities (such as Simjacker or S@T Browser exploits) via binary SMS commands to track locations or send hidden texts, but these rarely target everyday users. [1, 2, 3]

Perhaps the best answer to your question would come from your service provider. Explain what has happened and they may even send you a new ‘clean’ SIM card.

Just request a new SIM .at worst it costs 10 euro and if you were on Bill pay try would often just issue one free. The advantage is that at a shop you can ask them to assign this new SIM card to your existing number and get the transfer instantly..

What might be worth doing is to give yourself a new and different account for emails and logging into applications. . If your Apps had been compromised becoming a new you can be beneficial .. A new Spotify , a new Facebook name etc and just be more careful with the apps loaded
