Mobile signal in house

After having recently changed mobile provider from Sosh to SFR Red, I’m happy with the service, but do notice quite alot of variability for the coverage inside the house. I was happy with Sosh but thought I’d change as SFR Red also allows me to call European landlines from the mobile, so thought I’d give it a try.

Anyway, my question is, does anyone know how I can improve the coverage within the house? Is there anything that can help e.g. some sort of aerial/repeater etc??.

We live in a house with thick stone walls and have two orange repeaters. The first one free with our contract but had to buy the second one. For people who understand technology there are no doubt other, chePer solution. But for a numpty who just wanted something I only had to plug in to use this works fine.

Is that for the mobile or is that for the internet? As the internet coverage inside the house is good, it’s just the mobile signal that varies quite alot.

Activate wifi calling on your phone if coverage is good indoors.

Yes this should do the trick!

Re-wifi calling. As per Johnboy’s advice, you need to route your calls over the internet using wifi when the mobile signal strength dips below a certain threshold. I use it myself. Does your mobile company provide it? I think most do these days.

Thanks all for the very quick replies - much appreciated :+1::+1: I’ve managed to find the wifi calling option, so guess all I need to do is turn the function on, which I’ve now done:+1::+1: So fingers crossed, hopefully this does the trick

Boosting your actual cellular signal inside your house is possible if you have 2-3 bars service outside, but it’s expensive and a bit fiddly.

So think that crystallizes my mind to give the wifi call calling a whirl :crossed_fingers::crossed_fingers: as the wifi coverage is good and stable.

That would be an internet Wifi repeater, not a 4G/5G signal booster. For that, you might need an amplificateur.

Oh wow, don’t think I’ll be getting an amplifier. And that potential fine :flushed: the devil’s always in the detail.

The only problem we y that is that it doesn’t work for getting codes from banks. No idea why, but hugely frustrating having to run up the street to get them.

That’s because some banks send the codes over old school SMS/text which uses a cellular network.

Crédit Agricole’s SecuriPass feature removes the need for SMS reception.
