Anyone who has experience of burning coffee grounds to ward off mosquitoes, I need answers to three questions please.
How do you dry the grounds in the first place?
How much do you burn at a time and in what?

Sorry I can’t answer your ? directly, but the NY Times comparison section (does a lot of very rigorous testing) has just run a series on mosquito repellants;
I’ve used up this month’s quota of free Wirecutter articles, but I remember the following:-
i) Citronella and burnt coffee grounds are unreliable and if they do work, it’s due to the smoke rather than the smell (so IMO one could burn something else that smelt more pleasant)
ii) The most effective repellants use (expensive) cartridges.
iii) Mosquitos don’t like wind, so an oscillating fans should help keep them away.
well, at our village open-air thingies… we (c des fetes) have found that a very small glass jar/saucer/whatever (heatresistant) 1/3 full of dried coffee grounds… smouldering in areas where folk congregate (open-air Bar, Bar-b-cue, dining tables)
works just fine.
It’s become a habit at home… I empty out the filter papers when we’re doing coffee… and spread the used grounds very thinly, on a shallow tray in the air, to dry. only putting into a jar for storage when convinced there’s not an ounce of moisture left…
Now that I agree with
So… you’re a fan…?
Don’t put him on a pedestal
I’m propelled to agree

Perhaps he swings back and forth on the issue.
Is that manure coming at speed?
I’m watching which way the wind blows before making a decision.
At least, that’s my current position.
This is all a load of hot air.
Should be a breeze.
re the thread title… what works for us is not burning as such… simply smouldering…
and OH reckons I’m a dab hand at that.,… with or without a fan
The whole thing has me in a spin
We started doing it last summer, like Stella we dry on a flat tray. We ended up getting a couple of tins and drilling holes in the sides and filling about 1/3. We found it worked as well as anything else, other than thevfan which we started bringing out on bad nights.

That’s a lot of coffee you’re drinking.
Edited but yes probably drink too much coffee!!
We’ve found it works great at keeping flies away but not so much the mozzies sadly.
We just buy the cheapest coffee in a jar from Carrefour we can find. We have a brick that we keep in the garden and pour a small amount in each time. It takes a while to actually catch light, so find that one of those kitchen lighters with the long, flexible neck works best.

I saw what you did there!
Sticking your neck out a bit there
