Motor fuel situation April 2026?

Reminds me of the joke about the difference between a warhorse and a carthorse.

Any idea what HMG spends that money on because it clearly isn’t your roads?

Please don’t go there, it’s just income to them. Amazingly all the accountants I have worked with have lines of income that are specified and not taken from one line to another so you can then follow an audit trail to see exactly what is where finance wise.

Bicester Tesco had diesel at £1.85/l this morning, although a couple of pumps were closed I had no trouble getting fuel.

I popped in to town yesterday, 4 petrol stations I passed no queues, diesel prices +/- 2.30€/L. I topped up with E10 +/- 2€/L
I’m looking into running my boiler on cooking oil…

Hopefully things will improve for France as the tankers are being allowed to use the straits of Homuz.

Family and in-laws are going over into the Costa Brava tomorrow for lunch and to get some petrol on the way back, be interesting to see how much it costs.

We are in Bouches du Rhône. No sign of shortages here either at small or supermarket stations. Price for sure is up over 2.10 for unleaded 95 but that’s the only issue.

from a concern about getting down here from uk our village is suddenly full of Brit’s and Italians who have made the journey from their home countries for the Easter weekend.

Things seem to be getting worse in France -

Maybe holiday home owners doing a check over in case they cannot get down during the summer if things get worse and planes cut routes, petrol/diesel is rationed etc. If it were me, I would want to make sure my property is well secured, the garden done and all well until next time

There was a queue yesterday as we drove past the Intermarché in Issoire, but no shortages in Issoire at all so far, and virtually none really in the Puy-deDôme. The ones on the A71/175 that might currently be out of stock are almost certainly down to the increased north/south flow of Easter motorway traffic.

Yes.. suddenly we have Brits, Dutch, Belgian and Parisiens (and others) … all making the most of this Spring Holiday Weekend (or longer for some lucky folk).

Happens every year, we are still in sweaters and they are sporting T-shirts

Just over the border in Spain it was €1,40/litre for 95 yesterday evening my son said and keeping his foot off the accelerator he was home half and hour later with hardly any movement on the petrol tank needle

Sorry about that Stella, wouldn’t have posted it if I had known, I must have agreed to something as I get access.

No worries…

It gives me a few lines then says: “sign-up to keep reading for free” …

websites are all different… many want me to pay/sign up (on yer bike)
I use the ones where it offers (often in very small print) “continuer sans accepter” :+1:
