You have to hand to the French for updating their transport infrastructure. The new A65 peage is being opened by el Presidente on Tuesday. We are about 5kms from the access point at Auriac which means Bordeaux in about 1.5 hours and only an hour to the coast at Bayonne plus an hour up to the skiing at Gourette so a great boon to us and our holiday visitors. Toulouse will still be around 1.5 hours. We are in the middle of nowhere here in Mouhous (only 34 humans in residence) but in the centre of access to a lot of places - city of Pau, on the edge of the Landes and the Gers and Haute Pyrenees as well as the aforementioned great cities. It’s only when we visit our home town of Colchester that we realise how lucky we are living here. Everyone who stays with us appreciates the peace and tranquility, fresh air and the friendliness of the people plus all the other French things.

We are expecting it will increase our B & B and gite business as we will now be more accessible, situated between the Garlin and Auriac turn offs. The drive through the Landes will be more pleasant as hopefully most of the heavy traffic will take the peage but this may depend on the level of the tolls.

If you are traveling via Bordeaux this will certainly help to speed up the trip.

Hi Neil, we are near Pau and have a hols booked to Cauterets in Jan - hopefully this may benefit us?! From near Southend in UK so not too far from Colchester.
