Looking for how to deal with our current ant invasion I found this man. Never really rated French gardeners much, but who cares what he’s saying I’ll just listen to him.

I hope it works for you Jane, I have no need of such methods no ant trouble outside but some months ago I had a mystery invasion all around the kitchen sink.
When @SuePJ suggested canelle I bought a little bottle of sticks and put one on the sink, but Sue then said it was supposed to be powder but I left it there and they stayed away. It is still there and still no ants, so perhaps it might work for you.
