Intimate and emotional, tears in the audience…

Quincy Jones RIP.

Amazing version of Summer in the City.

Popped into my head, thinking about @Paul_Lewis, how others have responded, and finding ways to be free.

Time we had this one again  In the current world this seems very appropriate.

Right next time (I live in hope!)

This has been running around my brain last few days. Be Thankful for What You Got (Parts 1 & 2) by William DeVaughn. Can see why they did a Part 2 - what a groove they have going there

Superb. I have Streisand/Barry Gibb album - both at the height of their powers at that point

One of the consolations of no longer being in my twenties is being able to appreciate artists like them. Easier to love anything by a Gibb though.

I was a bit of a weirdo. I got Woman In Love and Dionne Warwick’s greatest hits for my 21st birthday

I think I prefer this version by Pina Del Re. Her voice is a little warmer then Barbra Streisand’s. But I think that long note was not as long as Streisand’s, but don’t think that matters.

She has a lovely voice for sure. But there are very few covers that surpass the original imho. One notable execption springs to mind (because of the bee gees connection)- the Wallflowers’ version of I Started a Joke https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zK-DpbBxIes

The Bo Diddley beat, early 60s, short session.

Forty five minutes plus of Bo Diddly and Ronnie Woods in the late 80s in Japan…best session I’ve seen of Bo Diddley.

Wow! Time to pucker up…

They are not sisters. She has cloned herself playing the guitar.

Dua Lipa - never heard of her. But appears to be successful and popular. One of her videos has had more than 3 billion views!

2017 On a roof top.

2024 Royal Albert Hall - Full Version.

Hindley Street Country Club are an excellent covers band, despite the weird name.

See also Sing It Live, another Aussie covers band:

I also like “Italian Artists”

I sometimes prefer cover versions to the original. I find Barbra Streisand’s voice too thin in her song ‘Woman in Love’, whereas the cover singer’s voice is warmer and more open, friendlier…IMO.
