While watching a film on ITVX, called Ghost, I heard a song in the background – Unchained Melody by the Righteous Brothers – a 1965 hit. An old but distinctive song even today IMO. Love the vocal crescendo near the end….

Same but more contemporary theme - Once Upon a Time in the West - with a mezzo-soprano singer.

In Dreams by Roy Orbison. Hadn’t occurred to me before, that he might be the male equivalent of a mezzo-soprano – a countertenor – but he isn’t. He has a “baritone-to-tenor voice, celebrated for its power, clarity, and emotional intensity”.

A unique and lovely voice in this short song.

RIP Neil Sedaka who has left us aged 86.

Remembering ‘Oh Carol’ and ‘Happy birthday sweet 16’.

When our daughter went on a school trip to the US in the late ‘90s she had an Eagles tape with her. One day they were on an excursion and the coach driver borrowed it and played it repeatedly throughout the journey.

And I always thought it was called Unchained melody.

You’re right. I have an occasional problem with words.

But is it unchanged?

It is now….

So is it Unchanged Melody or Unchained?

I’ve edited my original post to Unchained Melody, OK?
