Muting Contributors- help please!

Hi all,
Can one of you lovely people please do a quick HOW TO guide to muting contributors? I see things differently as an admin and in any case, I am currently brain fried as I have had IT issues for 48 hours now and had to resorted to uploading video in a car park in the middle of Avranches this morning….
So whatever I wrote would be gibberish.
Thank you whoever offers in advance!

I’m going to walk the dog now and try to decompress…

Brian recently did some very helpful guidance here.

Thank you George - i’m not sure this works if the person hides their profile though?

Can do it from your own profile:

Go to Preferences then “Tracking” where you can mute based on category or tag or “Users” where you have various options to reduce interaction with specific users.

Thank you, that’s worked :+1:

Thanks @George1 and thanks to Brian too!

Welcome @EdMck , but I’m dying to know who you have decided after only one day here, that you don’t want to hear from. Go on tell us, if I get no reply, I will know who. :astonished:

Hi it seems not to have blocked the person, I still receive articles created by them?

I think you need “ignore” rather than “mute”?

If you “ignore” then you see that someone has posted but not the content, wherever they have posted. I find “mute” is good for not seeing entire threads…or at least that’s what I think I have done

It would seem that @EdMck has muted everybody.

Very wise.

Yes but…I suppose really I am only interested not in that but the constant recurring of old threads without any encouragement. I mentioned it the other day, getting boring, better stop.

I have no idea why that happens. Maybe Cat or Sir William would have a clue…

Maybe it’s only you and me that fall into the trap.

Probably!!

People (or bots) search by keyword either on Google or the forum search then don’t notice that the thread was last added to ten years ago.
