For the life of me, I cannot understand how anyone might even think that questions for French nationality application would be in any other language than French ![]()
I do love this forum sometimes.
Only sometimes? ![]()
I know, made me giggle too as that is too stupid for words. Why do they think there is a language test in the first place??![]()
Here are the cefr definitions for what each level means. ‘Independent’ in this context means you can survive a utilitarian conversation in a familiar situation, it is nowhere near fluency and when examining we aren’t looking for fluency. The levels are a geometric progression like the Richter scale rather than an arithmetic progression. And skills are differentiated, you can be at C1 speaking but only B1 for writing, for example.
I often feel I’m more at A0 level ![]()
I’ve just taken the civics exam for my pluriannuel visa. The test is in French, multiple choice, 40 questions, only one choice is correct. To pass you need a minimum of 32 correct. I got 39. The exam is taken on a computer.
All the information on the different civic exams, themes and study articles, example questions, and which centres are approved by the government can be found at www.formation-civique.interieur.gouv.fr
this information is also provided at the OFII training days.
I took the exam at the Newdeal Institut in Bordeaux. It was easy to book online and choose the correct exam for my visa. On the day we had to bring photographic identity, our photos were taken along with a signature.
The examiner gave us a unique code for the computer - at this point check your name is correct- the exam starts and you have 45 minutes to answer 40 questions. Most of us finished early and were allowed to leave.
Results are emailed to you with an attestation a couple of days later. You MUST keep this along with your OFII attestation for your visa renewal.
The exam was tricky - there are several scenario questions where you have to decide the correct answer for the situation. You do need good A2/B1 French. The question I got wrong was because I didn’t understand it! Hope this helps. If you need more advice please contact me.
