Negotiations to facilitate youth mobility between EU & UK

The Tories won’t do it for obvious reasons.

Labour, Lib Dems etc want to focus their election campaigns on the Tories’ record in power on things like the NHS, the economy, housing, social care etc., not re-running 2016, where the Tories’ obvious defence will be to just say “you are undemocratic and want to override the will of the people”.

It would be a distraction, in other words. Also in Labour’s case they have to gently win over those Labour voters who were misled into voting Leave, and who may not yet be quite ready to admit it was a mistake, or for whom that realisation is still embarrassing and they don;t want to be reminded of it.

For the next General Election in 5 years then perhaps that would be the time to raise the question, if by then enough progress has been made on realigning our economy and freeing up trade, and it’s clear that the electorate is ready to address the issue again. It’s still a bit raw right now, even if public opinion has swung towards regretting Brexit.
