New A Frames

Are there regular sizes of A frames rather than made to measure sold here?

Do you mean roof trusses? …or part of a trailer?

Roof trusses

They’re probably made to measure but not something you can just go and pick up. Search for “charpente moderne”

A frames are usually made to measure. I have made oak ones and have some unused (full span) still stored.

I’ve made them myself in past just was wanting to save time and have ‘off shelf’ options if available.

Off the top of my head mine are 5.5m span on centres and 46.5 degrees pitch, 4 no.

I only need span of 4.5 m to replace some old ‘farmers home made ones on an out building .

Mine are more complex than geometrically ‘A’ frames, they are typical barn roof frames where the tie beam goes through the floor with slingbraces and a collar tie.

I have plenty of old unused oak if you want some simple small ones like that knocked up or can do it yourself. I’m retired.

Or you can buy green oak or douglas fir from your local sawmill. Shrinkage shouldn’t be much of a problem on an outbuilding.

Hi Yann thank you for the offer, I too have lots of old oak beams that I could use in the traditional method. The roof is holding up quite well but will need to be redone by next year. I’ll go to a wood merchants to see what the options are. Just thought I would ask here as it is always such a a huge sourse of helpful information.:+1::+1:
