New zealand wines

Where can I buy NZ wines in SW France? I need some NZ wine for a tasting evening and can't find any in my local shops. Hyper U and Leclerc have Oz, SA, Chili etc - but no NZ.

Thanks James. Unfortunately they only do whole cases and I only want a couple of bottles.

How far South are you ? Close enough to cross over into Spain, they seem more open to buying "foreign" wines than the French. Failing that I would order on line from Majestic (ex Calais Wine + Beer). They are happy to ship wine around France (but not beer for some reason)

you could say that we have also helped the local Australia wine economy [ahem]. As for the lamb, at least you know that if it comes from NZ and noone else has modified it, it will be lamb and nothing else :)

Our local Leclerc, was selling NZ lamb, and the local farmers took it personal and spread slurry all over the car park! Good luck getting the wine. I prefer Australian my self.

Good luck - haven't seen any out here at all. We used to live in one of the big 'wine regions' of NZ and my guess is that they are too expensive for people here. The prices were comparable to imported wines, possibly due to taxes and higher production costs. If you can find it though, anything from Brajkovic (Kumeu River) is very nice and most wines from Marlborough, especially sauvignon blanc and chardonnay will be good. Sadly, a lot of NZ wineries are now owned by Fosters, the Australian beer company!
