Not too late to vote for your favourite village

Is anyone lucky enough to live near one of these 14 communes ?

Have already voted for my old commune, the second one down in blue. Yes we were lucky to live in such a beautiful area but needs must and the calling of grandchildren/family plus property too large for one person ended it or I would have happily stayed.

There’s one in my region, but it’s 270 kms away and I’ve never visited.

I know Marcolùs, it’s south of Maurs and we sometimes do a rando from it, the village has a decent resto too . OTOH I can think of several villages that I prefer.

We’ve seen signs for Nolay, although it’s a bit over an hour away.

La Flotte is on the Île de RĂ©. I’ve driven through it plenty of times. It’s nice enough (at least in the summer months, it’s very quiet out of season) but also unaffordable to live in for most people. Strange choice, imo.

La Ferte Vidame comes as quite a surprise. On the other hand, La Ferte Bernard, which isn’t on the list, ought to be on it, in my opinion.

MarcolĂšs in Cantal is the only one I have been to. Very charming and photogenic. We had a nice picnic there a few years go.

Does it rain a lot there?

I’m kind of confused as to how Vescovato got selected. Perhaps it has improved in some way since the days I used to pass through it, which admittedly, were nearly 40 years ago (how old do I sound?).

Haha, not sure

I don’t think it’s the water falling from the sky that’s gonna be the biggest problem over the next few years.

Just had a quick ‘tour by google’ through Nolay. Looks OK, but not better than a number of other small towns we drive through (like Chateau Chinon, Tonnere or even Chaource).

It was a tongue in cheek response. If it’s wet in Brittany where we have friends they will answer the question : “ What’s the weather like? “ with “La flotte”.

Yes, I know la flotte is a colloquialism for rain, but I hadn’t made the link until you mentioned it :slightly_smiling_face:

The program goes back to 2012, so maybe after all these years they’ve got only the middling villages left to pick from.

Weird that Saint Martin made the cut and not st Guilhem
