Hi Please can anyone tell me.if they have had a similar experience with a Notaire and what they did to get their money from the sale of their property? Situation; Property completed with Notaire signing on our behalf due to us being away late afternoon of 20/12. Several emails before completion and after of when we would receive the money. No answers. Phone calls. Secretary stated cannot release funds until registered with Land Registry and they were closed 16/12 to 6/01. Confirmed in an email Notaire would transfer the following week. Spoke and asked if it would be Monday. No end of year accounts had to be done first!!! Waited until Thursday. Phoned yes would be that day. Phoned Friday. Did he transfer? No, it would be Friday. Receive statement the same time? No because he doesn’t know how to do it!!! Phoned Monday. Did he transfer Friday. No sorry. Don’t know why he didn’t. Send him an email and I shall forward it to him. Sent an email asking why he is withholding our money and when would he transfer it. Threatened to complain to the Notaires council. No reply. It is over a month now and the buyer moved in the day after completion and we still have not got the money from the sale. What can we do if he does not answer and does not transfer the money? I can’t sleep worrying about it all Sorry long question. Thanks for reading
I think you need to send a very formal letter by LRAR requesting immediate release of the funds, and a face to face meeting for them to explain the reasons for this delay and what compensation they plan to offer for holding on to your money for a month.
Make sure the letter is cc’d to the chambre des notaires that t his one falls in.

They should have paid you interest on the money too.
