It is now engraved in my memory banks - I’m good at remembering numbers. If I make a note of it somewhere I’ll forget where I put it! Probably best left somewhere in the car.
Being built-in poses no problem for a thief. The radio can be removed quite simply, with 4 cocktail sticks. Not sure whether, even if the code is known, another car will recognise it. Perhaps that’s the deterrent.
‘Saving Venice’ a TV programme on Channel 4 last night about how Venice could be prevented from sinking, crumbling, flooding and stand up to climate change. Venice is the canary warning that might signal how so many other cities by the sea might be affected by climate change.
Lost the TV satellite signal and only saw part of the programme! It was interesting to see how Canaletto’s paintings helped find out that Venice has sunk 1.3 metres since being built.
The last words on this video clip are “but this barrier system is just the latest in a long line of Venetian engineering solutions”. I won’t know what this long line of engineering solutions is until the programme is repeated.
Anyone know where/how I can see the whole programme elsewhere?
Not sure if this is the same show or not, but the thumbnail looks very similar:
If you saw it on Channel 4, they very often repeat their programmes through the week - More4 4/7 etc.
Also looks like it’ll be on BBC 4 01:15 if you have a recorder.
Family down with glandular fever and according to their doctor, us old grandparents and the two little ones cannot catch it - am waiting to see. They have no idea where it has come from although eating out weekly up in the ski resorts whilst grandson had his lessons is a suspect and also colleagues at work who never divulge anything in case theyhave to take time off. Never seen them both looking so knackered and run down and it stays with them now as my niece confirmed after getting it 25 years ago.
Errrmmm, that’s not what I understand. Little children often have no symptoms - which is not quite the same. And older people have mostly already had it, but can catch it and it can be serious in the elderly. So keep to standard precautions!
No kissing the grandchildren.
Too late, they are both like Lampreys and always want a cuddle.
Indeed. It is known as the kissing disease in some parts due to route of transmission among university students.
Pretty sure anyone who’s not had it before can catch it. Tiredness, often prolonged, is a common symptom.
Will send you a PM ![]()
Thank you @ ChrisMann but I can’t receive BBC iPlayer here in France. Wish I could.
Thank you@ Gareth Do I reply by PM?
Might be best, as I don’t want to get Cat or James in any trouble ![]()
Thankyou @ SuePJ. Will keep my eyes peeled…
Just checked and found I had watched BBC 4, not Channel 4. Have scrolled BBC 4 forward to Friday and set a reminder. Thanks.
If you use a VPN you can. We watch BBC iplayer here quite successfully via Nordvpn
So far PIA is not doing so well, it did to start with but not any longer so will cancel it and try nord
I’m uncomfortable with sidestepping the licence rules with VPNs or whatever so I’ve learned to live without British TV. I have to say it has improved my French a bit at least ![]()
I justify it by the fact that I pay for a TV licence for my nieces. And since they are young people they never watch terrestial TV!
