Nothing in Particular

Sounds like an industriaL autoclave :open_mouth:. Did you buy the house from a doctor ?

Yes! How on earth did you know?! The village MT’s family home. Three beautiful children, and both parents doctors.

I always use oven chips and whatever I can get but last night it was Auchan’s own which end up a bit soft in the oven.

However, can you see the big smile on my face? The chips were the best, and crispiest, I have ever had and the fairly thick lump of cabillaud was cooked perfectly too. The latter on the griddle strip at the bottom of the drawer and the chips half way up and shaken, as instructed, half way through. I used the synch facility so both finished at about the same time.

Almost the best result was, Fran, who has eaten little for the past few days, cleaned her bowl. Could be a coincidence but I will be checking out the cooking of veg in it this evening and we will see. The only problem was me, influenced by the larger portions that the instructions envisage I cooked too many chips, but manfully I managed not to leave any. It will be interesting to see how my smaller portions work with their instructions and whether I have to alter them slightly as a result.

Wonderful news David! What model did you get?

Chefree, I was tempted by the more expensive Moulinex but it was the little windows wot swung it.
Now if only I can keep them clean, the one in the mini oven has been hopelessly stained but at least these can be submerged in hot soapy water, so I am cautiously confident.

That explains the autoclave in the kitchen then

My top tip is to fill the baskets with hot soapy water the instant you have tipped the food out, then when it’s cool enough for your hands, use a sponge or cloth to wipe all the inner surfaces clean.

Seems a bit of a palaver, really.

That really does look like a modern medical autoclave

Thanks Brian, I’ll follow that advice, I washed them out almost immediately but later some of the fish stains were a bit persistant. Filling immediately and leaving to soak seems like a very good idea.

One small problem with that, they are so large and heavy, and there isn’t the space for both of them to rest, soaking, in the Belfast sink. In the event they had to be stacked on top of one another and that excluded everything else, plates cutlery etc., from resting soaking there too. I think in future the worst affected of them will go there immediately with the other one to follow after dinner later. But as the evening meal is the only time of the day when I don’t wash pots straight away, that means an extra mid evening chore. But I will get round it as I am pleased with them otherwise.

Experimented last night. As I usually cook various vegetables at the same time in the steamer I wanted to find a way round the advice for the AF of differing cooking times. So a bigger than usual mixture of veggies last night, all set to the 20 minutes advised for whole spuds, produced a very crispy melange which was nevertheless very eatable. A success in the sense that I will be able to do this with some slight adjustment. Mainly, as I always slice potatoes, in the AF they will not require the 20 minutes advised for the whole, pierced, variety. :joy:

It might be worth getting liners for your air fryer. Paper disposable and silicone reusable types are available.

My BIL bought one for his HGV and uses it most days to make everything from a fry-up breakfast to cooking fish he keeps in the fridge in the cab. However, I have never asked how he cleans it because often he parks up where there are no services handy.

Never thought such things might exist, I’ll go and have a look, in English, on Amazon UK, then demand a look at FR.

@Shiba They come in 12 and 24 volt versions do they, a thought if I ever go travelling with my small caravan again, the Roma, not the Teardrop of course, no room for even standing up in that.

Didn’t know under what subject heading to post this, so post it here. Received from a mate in London, suggesting 'it’s what we all suspected!'.

I have no idea what a steam integrator does, but this is my son, the presenter and his picture:

That’s quite clever - not the plaque which is a bit unnecessary but the plumbing is brilliant.

Unusual for a kid to have his Dad on his lap.

In my past life as an architect, where detail mattered, did you notice (am sure you did) that the middle junction of pipes is such that the middle urinal has had to buddy up close to it’s neighbour to its right? Maybe such 4-way junction pieces don’t exist.

Perhaps they are designed for (from left to right) claustrophobics, men, boys.
