At a guess about 3-4 hectares, so about 150-200 m2 per sheep. They weren’t all together, but in irregular clumps of varying size all over the field.
Can’t remember how windy it was or direction, but that’s a possibility.

Sniffer dogs, and those that sniff out cancer, we know about. But sniffer rats?
My experience with wild French rats, chez moi, tells me that they have a phenomenal sense of smell. Rats, besides being wild or as pet rats, can be useful!
They are so sweet those rats, I love them. Very clever and thus easily trained, they sniff out mines as well.
Meanwhile Heathrow has dogs that sniff out passengers’ biltong on incoming flights from S Arica (but those dogs are probably much easier to train).
I think our little Gigi, who’s French and who knows nothing about biltong, would still find it toute de suite.
It’s the time of the evening for rambling.
I once was visiting a prison to see a client. I was in a group with WAGs - no respect for defence solicitors, probably with justification - and I bent down to pet the lovely Spaniel which was giving us the once-over in case we were bringing contraband.
By the time I’d finished stroking him, the WAGs had gone and I was alone, locked in the holding area, and had to use the panic button to ask to be released.
Wives and Girl friends of footballers?
Love Ratty. I have those coffee mugs!
Well, of prisoners.
Some time before the term was coined, actually, so probably not the best way to describe them!
1 - ChatGPT, installed on my computer, added a message recently to say that it has joined with Canvas, an image generator. I can continue using ChatGPT in the usual question/answer way but can now ask it to produce images from text.
Don’t see what serious use I can make of it except to learn how to better describe exactly what I would like to see.
1st poor effort…
2 - I found a new icon placed in a corner of the tool-bar on the monitor screen which says “Hi, I’m your Microsoft Copilot AI companion”.
They are starting to intrude, but don’t mind. Useful tools.
Ewa and I like to watch TV5monde plus to help build our French skills.
I came across an animation this morning which may interest SF members
https://www.tv5mondeplus.com/en/cinema/animation/la-traversee
The broadcasts are available across Europe and free of charge.
We really enjoy the short films and there is content purely for learning French available.
I wasn’t sure where to post this but think it may be very moving for anyone who loves children and honours teachers
There is a short film at the beginning by a documentary maker in Japan. So much we can learn from this way of teaching. And so much to admire.
I hope some of you can see it. The paywall may allow a first time visit.
I so agree about rats, so misunderstood in spite of how sweet and clever and industrious they are. I love them
Aren’t they just? I loved every 51 minutes of that.
Wasn’t sure where best to post this…
Am I being picky? There is no physical connection between the Tesla Cyber Truck’s steering wheel and the road wheels – steering is controlled electronically.
And on a matter of detail, if I were to see such an alignment detail in the bodywork, which James May points to in the video, I’d return the truck.
Having watched quite a few 1940s war-time movies I’ve noticed the Cyber truck bears resemblance to German WW2 armoured vehicles. I wonder if Musk was influenced in any way……or am I letting my imagination run away with me?
I had a letter from Enedis warning me of 2 power cuts on the same day, but wasn’t sure what ’15 minutes, 15 minutes’ without a final full stop, meant, as in….
Nous vous rappelons que nous sommes conduits à programmer deux coupure(s) de courant

Google Translate answer…
We remind you that we are required to schedule two power outages
Wednesday, December 11, 2024 between 7:45 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. lasting approximately 15 minutes, 15 minutes
ChatGPT answer, in requested UK English….
We would like to remind you that we are scheduled to carry out two power cuts on Wednesday, 11 December 2024, between 7:45 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., each lasting approximately 15 minutes.
Much better. I will use ChatGPT to translate in future if I need to understand something that might be important! I’m very particular…
Looks like a Rolls Royce armoured car in the background.
