Yes I thought that too.
A mate in London tells me that boxes of 6 double-yolk eggs can be bought from Tesco & Waitrose. As double-yolk eggs are relatively rare I’m sure these cost a lot more.
Good for talking points around the breakfast/dinner table, as a surprise to impress guests…
Read about the statistics…!
I imagine it takes a degree of determination.
Filing tray thief.
I suspected that rat activity was going on indoors and set up an infrared camera, and was right. A female rat was carrying away small pieces of torn paper, and then I saw her with a complete letter - nesting material!
I couldn’t find my ordonnance for a repeat prescription but what she’s got doesn’t look like my prescription. What she’s got I do not know.
There is no food lying around – made sure of that – but nesting material is aplenty. I’m sure as rats go, she has a cushy life, probably living somewhere up in the roof space!
For info. Losing a repeat ordonnance is a nuisance because trying to get a copy from my doctor is a real bother. I called the pharmacy instead to explain, and was informed that they can give me a copy from their digital files. Useful to know!
If you are signed up to MonEspace Santé and ask your prescriber to use it all your prescriptions should appear there.
Our ex-nextdoor neighbour told us she keeps a stash of chocolates in her bedroom, but was surprised to find it depleted because she couldn’t remember eating that many. Turns out she’s been sharing her bedroom - and her Ferrero Rocher! - with a rodent… She sent us a photo she managed to take of the chocolate thief.
It is fairly common on french plumbing to have inline filters,(the same as on the spout of your taps ) so by undoing a couple of joints the rubbish falls out .
Happy to report the pompe à chaleur is working well. Last month I realised I hadnt had it serviced over five years on. I called the installers who came along a few days later. Everything checked and tested with most time spent hosing down the unit outside. The chap told me to call him in three years for the next service.
I still find the system (Atlantic) superb and économic as well as incredibly quiet and efficient.
Mine is Atlantic too, no noise at all either and the big cumulus keeps plenty of water available for unexpected small visitors wanting a real bath and not a shower so they play with their toys and soak me.
Yes, it’s a great boiler.
The chap who did the service said it was the most efficient machine around and the easiest to repair etc. And, it’s clean energy.
Thanks. Had a look at Mon Espace Santé but no prescriptions showing except for one in Jan 2024. I’ll have a word with my doctor next time I see him.
I don’t have a printer so if I lose a prescription again it’s easier to go ask the pharmacy for a copy. Wonder if a phone app will be available one day for prescriptions….
I think this is the only time I’ve ever misplaced a prescription, or maybe the rat did purloin it!
My UK pharmacy (Paydens) has an app - I order (and keep track of) all my prescriptions, and my mother’s on there.
Very handy as it copes with repeat prescription timing so I don’t have to remember to reorder.
Apparently very few of the pharmacy’s customers use it though.
There’s also the NHS app, which is semi-useful - you can’t send messages to your doctor with it (“service unavailable”) which is annoying.
@ Peter-Bird, Just had a new central heating boiler installed two weeks ago and yes it is a Atlantic,
it replaced a 17 year old German one that was noisy inefficent and difficult to get parts for, first rate.
A rat sneaks away my letter, a mouse sneaks away your chocolates. All for one reason, survival. But look see what insects, ants and ladybirds, get up to in the name of survival, in this engaging and atmospheric video.
ChatGPT says about its production….
The filmmakers first captured real-world landscapes and environments, providing authentic backdrops for the story. This approach grounds the film in reality, offering viewers familiar and tangible settings.
Animated insect characters were meticulously crafted using CGI. These digital creations were then seamlessly integrated into the live-action footage, resulting in a harmonious blend that brings the miniature world to life.
Notably, the film lacks spoken dialogue. Instead, it relies on expressive sound effects and musical scores to convey emotions and narrative progression, ensuring accessibility across different languages and cultures.
An hour and a half well spent in watching this epic adventure IMO, for both adults and children. Kiddies will love the insect farting and the mesmerising praying mantis. Great imagination and good use of computer-generated imagery.
Informed by my butcher that andouillette needs only to be heated, being already cooked.
Looking forward to tomorrow night.
OTOH I think any sausage is improved by grill stripes…
I’m afraid the word always reminds me of “Why buy the pig if all you want is a little sausage?”

I’ve been receiving and enjoying SF for some time now but never had anything useful to contribute. However, I would like to thank the person who recommended Lidl’s marmalade recently. After over 50 years in France I now look forward to my toast and marmalade every morning!
Sorry I forgot to say hi everyone in my haste earlier!
