Well here we go… he has defo set out his stall with his speech, although I did notice it didn’t mention Ukraine or Russia or Middle East. We shall see
I personally took great hope from much of he said, in particular regard to family and faith.
We will now see what happens. I reckon the bit on the Panama Canal was a bit over the top however he made his point that it cannot fall into the hands of the Chinese
It was heart warming to see a leader leading and not allowing rubbish woke take over. How about two genders? Great!!!
I haven’t heard his speech, and have no inclination to either. I’m always perplexed by the far right’s belief in faith and family. Patriotic Alternative has similar “values”. I’m struggling to find any sense of Christian values in Trump’s divisive philosophy. I suppose I’m one of those wretched wokerati too.
They pay lip service to it, that’s all. It goes down well with the Midwestern whites who form a significant part of Trump’s base.
Trump himself is a prime example - a serial adulterer, convicted rapist and fraudster who prefers playing golf to going to church. Biden is a regular churchgoer and has been married to the same woman since 1977 but of course got no credit from the Right for that.
The thing that depresses me is we get more of the same of woke and left… he is righr, stop the illegal immigrants as a priority. They only bleed the state and sell their drugs.
Actually… I think the worst thing I hear is the woke passive agressive saying nobody else has the right to reply unless you agree with them. That is truly frightening
I am most certainly not a troll. I have the right to be heard and say so. Stop being silly if you want a real discussion, rather than dissing anyone who disagrees with you
I thought the inauguration had all the charm and character of a school assembly but Trump has a unique way with words – e.g.:-
“Americans crossed deserts, scaled mountains, braved untold dangers, won the Wild West, ended slavery, rescued millions from tyranny, lifted millions from poverty, harnessed electricity, split the atom”
America exploited and benefitted from slavery more than any other nation before abolishing it over 30 years after the UK abolished it.
Winning the Wild West and rescuing millions from poverty will probably grate a bit with native Americans.
Harnessed electricity - along with every other country in the World
Split the Atom – Ernest Rutherford must be turning in his grave.
You mean all those people who do the menial jobs for low wages and pay taxes but have no residency rights?
Send them all home and see how the US economy gets on.
We hear the same nonsense from Farage and friends about “immigrants” in the UK - they pay more in taxes, VAT and National Insurance than they receive in benefits. And most of them have to pay to use the NHS as well. Meanwhile Farage is in line to get a very nice pension from the EU that he claims to hate so much, as a former MEP, as well as his MP’s salary while doing no work at all for his Clacton constituents.
You have the right to express yourself I agree (and I would defend that right). But you do not have the right to a platform, nor does that right convey upon anyone else the obligation to listen to you.
So that would be one Mr Elon Musk who overstayed his student visa (and probably flouted the rules even when it was valid) being sent back to South African then?
No, I mean send the illegal immigrants home. If they do not pay taxes or go into the black economy for selling drugs… I think all economies would grow if the GDP per capita were greater and it would be without so many immigrants (let alone illegals). It is nonsense… have a think about it… they do not pay more as you claim. Indeed if GDP per capita is going down with more immigration why is that?
@billybutcher Your are so very rude! Ooooo so you are happy to be heard and listened to, but someone without your opinions is not allowed the right to be heard? Where is democracy??? I do have thee the right to be heard although maybe not on this forum? Many of you argue left leanings but will not listen to a counter argument. Yet you say you want a discussion? Passive aggressive springs to mind.
No, I’m not - I’m just pointing out a fallacy regarding “free speech” which so many on the right seem not to understand.
There is only one person on here who has the right to post whatever she wants and that is Cat, who owns the site.
However I know of few who’s stated aim was to destroy the institution from which they will draw said pension - which is exactly Farage’s stated aim where the EU is concerned.
I would do but it’s like nailing jell-o to the wall where most right wingers are concerned.
I can do agressive-agressive if you want, but it’s against T&C.
No, that’s the thing - you don’t.
You have the right to express yourself, which is different, it obliges no one to listen.
