Oh crikey Trump

The posh part!

It’s not often that you see McConnell do the right thing.

It’s an ill wind which blows no good as they say - who would have though that the US president would be the driving force in moving the UK closer to the EU

I suspect the EU might be cautious of a fair-weather friend or whatever the opposite of that might be.

How long before he starts blustering about the UK turning away from the US ‘after all they’ve done for us’?

I agree. But I think the situation has two sides - if the US continues its current political direction I think relations between the EU and US will cool if not positively freeze in which case the UK with large GDP and decent technology base might start looking like an attractive partner again.

Also I’m not necessarily advocating we rejoin the EU - single market membership would benefit both sides and keep the UK at arm’s length from the EU which would probably be a more comfortable position for us politically.

Admittedly that leaves us on the outside looking in as far as legislation goes - though I think the EFTA states manage some successful lobbying so I think we would not be completely without influence.

But it important to realise that SM membership will not be easy as I don’t think either of the two existing routes (EU membership or EFTA membership) will be open/suitable - which means a bespoke deal and the EU won’t be keen (but we should be able to some up with something more workable than the Swiss deal).

I suspect there’s a lot of balls associated with his ballroom. :face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth:

Looking at the size of his library building, How many colouring books does he have?

I don’t think cameras are allowed in the Supreme Court, hence the court sketches.

In Trump’s endeavour to restrict birthright citizenship, very important to him, he’s there in the front row before the Justices, presumably hoping intimidation by his presence will influence them.

He stormed out soon after the defence started to defend birthright citizenship and already having heard scepticism from his ‘favourite’ Justices.

This could warm things up a little.

"The American military is intensifying efforts to secure greater access to Greenland, a clear signal that President Trump’s interest in the enormous Arctic island has not waned.
The United States is negotiating with Denmark for access to three additional bases in Greenland — including two previously abandoned by Americans — which would mark the first U.S. expansion there in decades, according to a top Pentagon general, Gen. Gregory M. Guillot.

General Guillot, the head of U.S. Northern Command, told lawmakers in a congressional hearing in mid-March that the military wanted “increased access to different bases across Greenland as we look at the increasing threat and the strategic importance of Greenland.”“I’m working with our department and others to try to develop more ports, more airfields, which leads to more options for our secretary and for the president, should we need them up in the Arctic,” General Guillot added

I sincerely hope they get nothing. In fact a warning shot across US bows about the possibility of reducing their current footprint in Greenland seems more appropriate.

“And Mr President, no one has paid the price like you have paid the price. It almost cost you your life. You were betrayed and arrested, and falsely accused. It’s a familiar pattern that our Lord and Saviour showed us. But it didn’t end there for him, and it didn’t end there for you.”

So said Paula White, advisor to the White House Faith Office, as Trump smiles away!

James O’Brien of LBC said she’s referring to Trump as Jesus in the White House.

We really are in La La Land - so disconnected from reality!

If I didn’t want to go to the US before I really don’t want to go now.

Pam Bondi has gone and where does that leave the asylum?

Still with Kash Patel and Pete Hegseth. I’m hearing that Patel may be next to go…Reuters & Atlantic.

And he’s just sacked his army commander in chief, and replaced him by hegseth’s military assistant, so there’s nobody to say no to whatever deranged pseudoplan he has.

It’s like last time only faster; get rid of the adults. We can expect the Iran war to be even worse planned now.

He’s going to nuke Iran, isn’t he?
